Webster pushing

The Scottish international defender has been chasing match fitness after his protracted transfer from Hearts in a first of its kind transfer.

And now Webster will no doubt be keeping both Arjan De Zeeuw and Fitz Hall on their toes after hte Latics' slower than hoped start to the season.

The match itself finished 0-0 with just four first team players in the side. Webster was joined by goalkeeper Mike Pollitt and defenders Matt Jackson and David Wright in the starting eleven.

It has been a good week all round for the Scottish internationals in the Latics squad as Lee McCulloch and Gary Teale were both members of the squad that defeated World Cup Finalists France 1-0.

Hampden Park was rocking as the Scots pulled off a real shock result.

Latics side: Pollitt; Wright, Webster, Jackson, King; Hampson, Holt, Montrose, Owens, Dunn (McCaughtrie 77), Smith.
