Rodallega completed his move from Mexican side Necaxa for a fee of £4.5m and said he is enjoying the welcome he has received from all at the club.

Speaking to El Tiempo, the 23 year old spoke of his debut and the move to the club being the best move of his life.

"People have been very nice to me, sincere and they showed their support to me straight away.

"This is a tough league, but I'm aware of the big responsibility that I have and I want to do things the right way.

"Moving to England is one of the best things that happened in my life. My team-mates help me a lot regarding the language barrier, they translate everything to me.

"He [Steve Bruce] is a top coach, a great person that is trying to help me the best he can and I want to match his demands."

The striker did not expect to experience his debut against Liverpool, and he has revealed that he was sitting in the stands when a member of Wigan's coaching staff told him he was allowed to be part of the squad.

He said: "Let me tell you what happened regarding my first game! I was in the stands, waiting for the game against Liverpool to start, but they finally told me that I was allowed to play! So I ran down to the locker room.

"It was a massive experience, as I was dying to make my debut against such a great team. The truth is that I'm very happy with my first 15 minutes. It was like a dream come true."

Rodallega will be hoping for a starting berth against Fulham on Saturday after playing 45 minutes in the draw at Aston Villa.
