Taylor aims for new deal

Taylor has not had a consistent run in the side since signing for Wigan from Tranmere in 2004. The right-back broke his fifth metarsal in 2006 and, in his first game since recover, broke his leg.

His latest injury, to his shin, caused Taylor to miss most of pre-season and has since managed to return' albeit on the bench.

Taylor told the Wigan Evening Post: "I'm out of contract in the
summer so I need to start playing again.

"I've just turned 24 and in the transfer market that's a good age. I would like to stay if there is a contract offered.

"I've been here just over three years and it's been tough at times because of the injuries, a bit of a rollercoaster."

Taylor was subject to constant speculation in the summer with manager Steve Bruce's former club Birmingham strongly linked but no move materialised.
