De Zeeuw: Fearful of Wigan exodus
Wigan have defied expectations of immediate relegation, instead prospering as the Premiership's surprise package.

But that hasn't stopped De Zeeuw from worrying about some of our star players being snapped up by the top english clubs, French right back Pascal Chimbonda being a particular worry.

Talking to sky sports, De Zeeuw said: "He (Chimbonda) has been our best player by far this season. He has been very consistent, always positive and he always has a smile on his face."

"It would be great if we could keep him, but when big club's come in, it's hard to keep a player like that."

Pascal isn't the only player De Zeeuw believes Wigan will struggle to keep hold of, adding: "Pascal is a rumour that's been going around for a while, while Jimmy Bullard has had a fantastic season, as has Lee McChulloch and Gary Teale."

"There are always going to be rumours because we as a team have performed well this season, these are people who have proved themselves in the Premiership, so there are going to be clubs interested in them."

On a personal note, the 36-year-old will miss Saturday's clash against former club Portsmouth with a broken collarbone, and Pompey boss Harry Rednkapp is relieved that his side will not be lining up against the Dutchman.
