No new signings likely

It was expected that a left back and striker would join the ranks to help sure up the current squad. Instead, it would appear that Hutchings could be making a fatal error by settling for a squad containing no recognised left back.

A number of names have been linked including, Marcus Williams of Scunthorpe, Matt Hill of Preston and Paul Robinson of West Brom, but judging by today's comments, it would appear that any new addition is unlikely.

Hutchings said: "We've got no one in the pipeline at this moment in time, but we are looking at other players. Hopefully we might be able to bring one or two more in, but only time will tell."

When quizzed about the striker shortage at the club following Henri Camara's drastic loss of form, Hutchings added: "We've got quite a few good strikers, which is important. I'm happy with our squad."

Despite players like former Manchester United striker Andy Cole being available on a free, Hutchings is going to stick with what he has.

It would appear as though supporters will just have to hope that the Hutch is right. But judging on Kevin Kilbane's performance at left back, and Caleb Folan's performance up top on Saturday, we could be in for a long slog.
