Midfielder targeting more goals

The 27 year old midfielder has scored two goals in three games since his return from a long term injury and the former Burnley player is targetting more goals before the season closes.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post ahead of the weekend's game with Rotherham, McCann said: “Last season I played quite a bit and I think I only managed three goals.

“I like to score a few more than that, and I’m nearly there after only three games. The gaffer said to me I seem to have a knack of getting on the end of things, and he’s encouraging me to get into the box which suits me.

“Having been out for so long, to hit the ground running and scoring goals is something I’m looking to keep going.

“Every goal from midfield is obviously helping the strikers out, and if we can all chip in with a few more that would be great.”

McCann's return from a broken knee cap has strengthened the Latics midfield and he will be looking to get on the scoresheet once more in the weekend's game with Rotherham.
