He will join on the 1st July after his contract at Bolton expires.

Jewll said: "I'm delighted to have agreed a deal with Per as he has proven quality and will be a great addition to our squad. I've always rated him highly and was therefore a little bit surprised when Bolton decided to release him. That news caught my eye and straight away I was keen to see if we could bring him here.

"I spoke to Sam Allardyce and he couldn't speak highly enough of him and how he'd performed at the Reebok. I think Sam just felt that it was time to move on and we're very pleased that Per has decided to come here.

"There has been a huge amount of interest in him but once we spoke to Per it was fairly easy to convince him to come here as he lives in the area already and has also seen us play a few times and been impressed. His contract will start on July 1st when the one at Bolton runs out, and I know he's looking forward to getting started here already.

"He's got a great engine, gets about the pitch well and can also contribute goals which is something we have lacked from midfield a little bit. He's played at the top level in this country very successfully and has also had a good international career which says all you need to say about the standard of player that he is.

"I think he will prove to be a very good signing for us and his experience, quality and know how will be a great asset as we begin our second season in the First Division."
