Mark Seagraves

Jewell's former Liverpool team mate joins us as a first team coach and will assist Jewell and assistant manager Chris Hutchings.

Seagraves is an experienced coach and was a trainee with Jewell at Anfield in the early 1980s, before enjoying a long career at Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers and Swindon Town.

Neil Fitzhenry

The Wigan-born former Latics defender, whose Football league career was cut short after a knee injury, has returned to the club as part of the medical team and will take up the vital role as youth team physiotherapist. The man who Neil succeeds, Dave Hallam, has vacated the role to become a masseur to the first team squad.

John Benson

A man who needs no introduction, Benson played a pivotal role in the Latics rise up the leagues between 1995 and 2001, beginning as assistant to John Deehan and Ray Mathias. He managed the team for a season when the club lost out in a dramatic injury time period to Gillingham in the Division 2 play-off final in 2000. Benson was heavily involved with the appointment of Paul Jewell in 2001 after taking the role of Director of football.

Benson returns after fulfilling a similar role at Birmingham City under Steve Bruce. Benson was also the manager who brought Arjan De Zeeuw to the club for the first time.

Jewell: Happy with new aquisitions
Speaking about the changes, Paul Jewell said: "We are building for the future, top to bottom, on the field and off it and these appointments reflect that. Mark Seagraves is a trusted friend and an extremely good coach who was brought up on the same fundamentals of football at Anfield as me and I am really excited about bringing him on board."

"Beno is an experienced old head who knows the game inside out, and has a genuine affinity and love for this club. He is trusted, well known and respected throughout football."

"I never knew Neil as a player but i was really impressed with his knowledge and professionalism when he applied to join our physio team at Latics. He spent a few weeks with us last season and it became clear then he could certainly become an asset to Wigan Athletic. He's a Wigan lad and has a great feeling towards the club that game him his first chance in football. We are now building a top class medical team here at Wigan and it's terrific that Neil will be part of that, working primarily with the youth team."
