Kightly linked with summer switch

Wolves winger Michael Kightly has been linked with a move to the JJB Stadium in the summer with the departure of Antonio Valencia looking more of a possibility. Valencia turned down Real Madrid last month and it appears he is unwilling to return to Spain. A move to Premier League champions Manchester United looks more of a possibility with some sections of the media stating Sir Alex Ferguson's side have been promised first option on Valencia in the summer.

Steve Bruce has already stated that he is looking at potential targets to bring in when the season finishes and was spotted at a Wolves game last month to check out Kightly. Kightly began his career with Southend before a move to Grays Athletic where he was a standout player throughout his spell there. A move to Wolves followed and has added to his reputation which alerted Bruce to his services.

'We've having a break on that front for the next few days, but next week I will have everyone in and assess the areas of the squad we need to strengthen. Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post.

"We've now got six months to have a look for the players we want to bring in - there's no time to rest on our laurels.'

If Bruce was to add the England U21 midfielder to the squad, the price will depend on whether Wolves gained promotion to the Premier League or stayed in the Championship. Wolves are currently top of the Championship and looking to return to the top flight after being relegated back in 2004.
