Jimmy Bullard Transfer: Reactions

Last updated : 28 April 2006 By Liam Cooper
The potential transfer is a shock to many Wigan fans, but one that wouldn't rank with the sale of Chimbonda or Roberts for example.

Both Wigan manager Paul Jewell and Fulham boss Chris Coleman have spoken about the possible transfer, and the chances of the deal being completed.

Paul Jewell

"Jimmy's down takling to Fulham at the moment"
Jewell: Resigned to losing Bullard

"He had a clause in his contract."

"I'm really dissapointed to lose him, but he's been a fantastic player for us."

"He's a great lad but had a clause in his contract that he could go for a certain amount of money. That's been exercised by Fulham."

"People will ask us questions about why this clause is in the contract but we didn't want to put it in. He was out of contract this year and insisted, well his agent said, if he was going to sign a new deal, there had to be a clause in it."

"So our hands were tied a little bit."

"I'm very disappointed, he's been a fantastic player for us and i wish him good luck."

"We paid £250,000 for him. We're getting a lot more than that and we'll have to replace him."

Chris Coleman

Bullard: Could be a Fulham player soon

The Fulham manager is refusing to confirm that a deal has been agreed for Jimmy Bullard.

"I'm one of many admirers, i would imagine. He's a terrific player."

"I talked with Paul Jewell about it and he knows our interest. Nothing's been agreed but, hopefully, we can come to some sort of arrangement and agreement.

"As of yet, nothing's been agreed."

"I don't know that it will go through. I hope i don't come across as too confident. I know what deals are like. They're never done until they're done- I've seen that before."

"I never meant to come acroess confident or cocky. He's a player we like but nothing's been agreed."
