Jewell - The first half was boring.

"We didn't play particularly well and it is nigh on impossible to play decent football on that pitch. However, the players stuck to the task and got the goal they deserved in the end. Walsall came and made it hard for us and credit to them for their defending but I felt we were the only team that tried to win the game.

"The first half was boring wasn't it and to be honest I couldn't wait to get at the players at half time to try and rouse them. It was another awkward game for us and though people would come here and expect us to roll them over, we always knew that it would be tough and we've drummed that into the players all week.

"Credit to them though for the way they kept going and we've won the game with a very good goal. 'Duke' kept his head well and it was a great finish and he's in a rich vein of form at the moment. It's six in six for him now and hopefully he can keep that form going. He and Jason Roberts are linking up well, it's just a shame that Jase couldn't get his first home goal here at the JJB. Their 'keeper made a couple of good saves to be fair though and he's always been a tidy 'keeper.

"We're right in the mix with eleven games to go and from now on results are the most important thing regardless of the performance. I doubt it was much of a spectacle today but we ground out a win and that's all that matters. We're not going to talk about promotion here, just like we didn't last year, what we'll do is give our all between now and the end of the season and see where that gets us too.

"To get another home win is very important and though the pitch here makes it difficult for us, we just have to get on with things. Three points is all I can ask for and thankfully today we have got them at home once again."
