John Filan 6

Made some good saves and held the ball well, but was at fault for their second goal.

Nicky Eaden 6

Reliable and fairly solid as usual. Didn't get forward as much as he would have liked.

Leighton Baines 8

A good performance down the left and enjoyed getting forward. You can't forget that wonder goal either!

Matt Jackson 6

Not his best performance but also not his worst. I feel we defended a little deep at times though.

Ian Breckin 6

Similar to Jacko. Maybe played deep with the fear of Bent's pace, this put extra stress on the midfield who had a good passing team to cope with, which resulted in Ellington being withdrawn to a midfield role.

Gary Teale 6

Started brightly with two good efforts on goal, but seems to lack confidence when running at a player, despite his electric pace.

Lee McCulloch 5

Never really got in the game. Never had a fixed position. Drifted from left wing to centre midfield and never stamped his imfluence on the game.

Alan Mahon 5

Again chasing shadows in midfield. The deep defence and passing power of Ipswich didn't help. A tactical re-think was needed.

JR - Man of the match
Jimmy Bullard 7

Defensively he was the only midfielder to seemingly be able to win the ball back and distributed it well going forward.

Nathan Ellington 4

A very poor performance from the Duke. He very rarely touched the ball and offered little support to Roberts. I hope this was due to his latter left wing role and not a more serious problem.

Jason Roberts 9 - Man of the Match

Another top notch performance from JR, he started brightly and his pace was causing Ipswich all kinds of problems at the back which led to some great early chances. His workrate again was second to none, chasing every ball and never giving up. He didn't deserve to be on the losing side. A slip of the tongue leading to a booking and suspension marred a good performance.

Paul Jewell 5

Poor tactics from the boss this time, which is unusual. He seemed to make the team defensive, withdrawing Ellington to a left wing role.
