Gomez backs Swansea for survival

Gomez was a big player during his season loan with the Swans but has found the Premiership a tough task since his move to the Latics.

Speaking to WalesOnline.co.uk the Spaniard said: “It’s always difficult for a new team coming up, but they have a settled side and I think they can do well.

“A lot of great work has been done over the last two years and it’s great to be able to play against them now.

“When I was there, the aim was always to get into the Premier League within three or four years, and they’ve finally done it. I hope they will do very well this season, and I think that they will.

“I had a great time at Swansea, and it was the first game I looked for when the fixture list came out. I enjoyed my time there, the life was good, and I have only good memories.

“It will be nice to go back to Swansea but now I am with Wigan and I will be doing everything I can to help us win the game.”

Gomez is unlikely to start the game for the Latics with Rodallega pushing closer to full fitness. However should he start then Gomez could ask for no better chance to prove himself to the Latics faithful.
