The goal, which ironically came from the left backs right boot, sealed a vital three points for the Latics in the last minute of the clash with Birmingham City at the weekend.

The 26 year old fullback announced after the game that he was very proud with the goal and dedicated it to his two sons.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Figueroa declared: "I'm really proud of the goal because it meant three points for the team. I was just happy to be able to contribute in this way, because I felt my performance in the first half was not so great for me.

"It was a great day for us and now we must push on and get ourselves out of the relegation zone and use the confidence we have generated to continue winning games."
