Door still open for Kapo

The former Birmingham and Juventus player has struggled to find his feet with the Latics, and this has disappointed some sections of the fans.

"I think Olivier is as disappointed as everyone else about the way things have gone here," Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post.

"But I still remember the five goals he scored in 11 games at Birmingham for me, and he has 10 French caps. It hasn't quite happened for him here but I haven't given up hope.

"I know a section of the crowd have turned against him a little bit because of the way he plays and the style he has. We haven't seen anything of him yet, but Kapo might still give us the spark in this second section of the season.

"Certainly he is right in the equation for Saturday. With Mido not available, he comes into my thinking. Most Wigan supporters haven't seen him play well. But you don't play where he has and get 10 caps for France if you don't have any ability."

Kapo is in contention for a start this weekend as Wigan travel to Middlesbrough. With Mido is ineligible to play against the club who hold his registration, Kapo could be given another chance.
