The Latics legend, two years into his second stint with Wigan, will turn 37 years-young next month and has fought back from a long injury lay-off which he was worried would force him to retire.

Despite the scare, the Dutchman has fought back and got a full hour under his bed in the reserves 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

He said: "I've had a chat with the gaffer now and he's said he'd like me to stay, I'll definitely speak to him again about it once I'm back playing again or at least fully fit."

With Emmerson Boyce out with two broken ribs, 'Arry is expected to make a swift return to the starting line-up in this weekends clash with Jimmy Bullard's Fulham.
