Cho Won-Hee deal close to completion

South Korean midfielder Cho Won-Hee is close to completing a move to the club after passing his medical and looking more than likely to gain a work permit. Cho has been on trial at the club and has impressed Steve Bruce enough to have the chance to join the club on a permanent basis and Cho has returned back to Korea to sort out any red tape with the move before anything can be finalised.

Cho was released by Suwon Bluewings at the end of the Korea season and has also had a trial at French club Monaco before Bruce made a move for the Korean. Speaking to the Wigan Observer, Bruce said

"He's had his medical and it looks as though his work permit will be granted.

"He trained again today but has to go back home now to complete the paperwork.

"We hope he'll be able to come straight in to the squad, and he will be a good addition for us. He's a utility player, but I feel his best position will be in midfield.

"We have a deal in place that lasts until the end of the season, and then a two-year contract ready at the back end of that."

The signing of Cho would add healthy competition to the clubs midfield and with rumours that a £6m move for Christian Benitez will happen in the summer, preparations are already underway to try and bolster the team for next season.
