Bruce wary of Portsmouth threat

Reknapp surprised the entire Premier League by leaving high flying Portsmouth for Spurs with the new Tottenham bosses former number two Tony Adams taking over.

But with attacking options which include Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch at his disposal Bruce is wary of the threat posed by his Saturday opponents.

He told the Wigan Evening Post: "When you've got the likes of Crouch and Defoe up front, Diarra in midfield and the back four that they have, they are a good team.

"No disrespect to Portsmouth - or even Southampton and West Ham - but when you look at the sums of money that Spurs have, they are one of the biggest clubs in this country. "

Adams started his reign as manager with a narrow 1-0 defeat at Liverpool; Steven Gerrard scoring the winning penalty. Saturday's game against Wigan will be his first game at home since taking over.

Heres hoping Wigan don't continue their trend of giving people their "firsts" for their clubs....
