Wigan manager Steve Bruce has conceded his side should have more points for their efforts so far, but admitted he is content with the start the Latics have made.

Wigan are at the same point this season as they were last year; eight points from seven games. Despite this Bruce believes the similarities end there. He told the Wigan Evening Post: ""I'm reasonably happy with our start. We haven't accumulated the points we deserve, we're about three short.

Otherwise I'm really pleased, there have been some good performances. There is a long way to go yet, plenty of football to be played, but I've got to say things are looking promising."

Losing to Middlesbrough last week was agony, it's never nice having two weeks to mull over a defeat."

It took Wigan until after Christmas to break double figures last season, something Bruce will be hoping to reach this Saturday when Wigan travel to Liverpool hoping to better last seasons result.
