He told the Wigan Observer: "There's a fee of £1 million in place with Charlton. If and when we get though this season and stay up then we'll sit down and thrash something out."
Whilst Bent himself is keen to stay with the club after scoring seven goals, a total that leaves him top of the club's table with just three games to play.
"It's been said to me personally and to my agent that there's a contract for me if Wigan stay up. I hope I can stay, I am the club's top scorer," commented Bent.
