The Dutch right-back has been linked with a return to the Eredivisie after dropping out of favour with manager Roberto Martinez in the second half of last season.

Reports in the Dutch media suggest PSV have tried to sign Stam on loan but the Latics have told them they will only let the 27-year-old make a permanent move.

However Stam's agent, Chiel Dekker, says the defender, who is contracted at the DW Stadium until June 2013, has no immediate plans to leave the Premier League club.

"It all depends on whether Ronnie will start playing again," Dekker told NUSport.

"If he gets a new chance and more minutes of play, then he is at the right place in Wigan.

"He wants to stay in the Premier League.

"If it looks like he will not be getting much playing time, then a transfer to PSV is an option. But it won't happen earlier than that."

Stam joined Wigan from PSV's Dutch rivals FC Twente last summer and notched up 29 appearances in his debut season.
