Crystal Palace V Wigan Athletic
Last updated : 16 April 2004 By Paul Farrington
The chase for the playoffs is really starting to hot up with just four games to go, and this is going to be a crucial game for both clubs.
The Eagles are just three points off a playoff place and have a game in hand on sixth placed Sheffield United and so they'll fancy their chances of making the top six.
In terms of the last six games there is very little to choose between the two teams.
It is likely that Jewell won't make any changes to the side that beat Cardiff 3-0. Jackson, McMillan and Flynn are still injured while Teale and McCulloch are going to have to settle for a place on the bench. Tony Dinning and Peter Kennedy are still not in contention for whatever reasons.
Wigan (Probable): Filan, Eaden, Baines, de Vos, Breckin, Liddell, Mahon, Jarrett, Bullard, J.Roberts, Ellington.
Subs: Walsh, Mitchell, Farrelly, Teale, McCulloch.
Crystal Palace are forced to make a change in defence as Mark Hudson has returned to Fulham after a loan spell. Mikele Leigertwood is likely to come in in his place.
Up front, Neil Shipperly has recovered from a groin injury but boss Iain Dowie may well stick with Dougie Freedman who has been in form recently.
Palace (Probable): Vaesen, Granville, Leigertwood, Popovic, Butterfield, Gray, Hughes, Riihilahti, Freedman, Routledge, Johnson.
Wiganer.net Predicts a tough game but thedetermination and will-to-win in this Wigan squad is so strong, they will come home with at least a point, 1-1, J. Roberts.
