Wimbledon ended their stay at Selhurst Park in miserable style as they continued their woeful form.

The game is likely to be Wimbledon's last home game at Selhurst Park as they prepare to move to Milton Keynes, but Wigan were determined to spoil the party.

And that is exactly what they did as the Dons lost their sixth successive game.

Geoff Horsfield made his Wigan debut and immediately set about making his mark. On 13 minutes he teed up strike partner Nathan Ellington, but his shot flew high over the bar.

Minutes later the forward duo teamed up again, and this time Ellington's fierce shot was well kept out by Wimbledon keeper Steve Banks.

It was only going to be a matter of time before the first goal came and after Jobi McAnuff had come close for Wimbledon, Jimmy Bullard put Wigan in front.

On 21 minutes Bullard capitalised on a poor clearance to slam the ball home. Eight minutes later Horsfield controlled the ball brilliantly before setting up Andy Liddell for a simple goal to put Wigan two up.

Horsfield grabbed a goal for himself two minutes later after a scramble in the Wimbledon box. The new £1million striker slammed the ball home from close range.

Almost straight from the off Stuart Murdoch's side got a goal for themselves as Patrick Agyemang rounded John Filan and slid the ball home.

And the Dons were given further hope of a comeback as McAnuff scored after the break finishing a fine run by Agyemang with a controlled low shot.

But all hopes disappeared on 54 minutes when Ellington rose to head home and score for the fourth consecutive game on 54 minutes.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell was still not satisfied with his side afterwards and stormed: "I've had a bit of a blast at them because we should not have let them back in the game.

"But saying that when I've been here in the past I don't think I've ever had a corner let alone a point."Wimbledon boss Stuart Murdoch said: "We can't blame this defeat on us being a young side."
