Wigan made it two games without a win as they were frustrated by a hardworking Leicester side at the JJB Stadium.

The home side created the better chances, especially after the break, but were thwarted by a determined visiting outfit that got men behind the ball at every opportunity.

Once again Wigan's lethal strike-force of Nathan Ellington and Jason Roberts were kept in check by the experienced defensive pairing of Martin Keown and Nikos Dabizas While at the other end, Leicester strike duo James Scowcroft and David Connolly were a constant threat to the Latics defence.

Wigan had the first two chances and both fell to Alan Mahon, but he could only blast over from close range.

Scowcroft then tested John Filan with a close-range effort, before Ellington squandered the chance of the half when he shot wide from the corner of the six-yard box.

Paul Jewell's side began to get their act together after the break and were unlucky not to take the lead when Lee McCulloch hit the post, with Taylor well beaten. The ball came back off the woodwork but wrong-footed the on-rushing Leighton Baines and Leicester lived to fight another day.

The home side then turned on the pressure and both Ellington and Roberts went close, before Taylor saved well from Jimmy Bullard and punched away a telling drive from Gary Teale, with Ellington just failing to connect with the loose ball.
