Paper Talk: Baines gets call up

The 19-year-old left-back becomes the first Latics player ever to be called up by England at this level and is the only new cap named in Peter Taylor's party.
Baines will join up with the England squad in Leicester on Monday night before flying out to Vienna ahead of the game against Austria a week today.
They then move on to play Poland on September 7, both qualifiers being played the night before the senior side play the same countries in World Cup qualifiers.
Latics boss Paul Jewell has long pressed for Baines to be recognised at international level, and was angry when the youngster was overlooked for the recent friendly against Ukraine.
But his mature displays on the left side of Latics' back four have finally attracted the eye of Taylor who returned as the Under-21 coach this summer.
Baines will be in the Latics side which will put their unbeaten Championship start to the test at the Stadium of Light tomorrow.
Hosts Sunderland, beaten play-off semi-finalists last season, are expected to be among the frontrunners again this time despite an uncertain start to the campaign. So Jewell has warned his side that they need to be at the top of their game if the unbeaten league run is to be stretched to five games.
The manager wheels out his big guns for the visit to Wearside having rested seven of them for the Carling Cup defeat at Grimsby in midweek.
And he hopes the break will have refreshed them sufficiently for part one of the Bank Holiday double-header which is followed by Monday's home clash with Cardiff City (both 3pm kick-offs).
Jewell told the Evening Post: "This should be a great game and I'm really looking forward to going to the Stadium of Light because it's one of the best grounds in the country.
"Tomorrow's game is not really about us getting on track after the Grimsby defeat, because that was in the Carling Cup having rested seven players.
"I've not been driving myself too mad about that result, although I was disappointed with the way we performed over there. What it showed me is that if you are 100% focused on the job in hand, things become difficult.
"We have to go to Sunderland and show the same desire and determination which we did against Forest, Millwall, West Ham and Brighton.
"Last season we drew twice against them, and it was two very evenly-matched sides on show. While it's too early to really start talking about promotion and relegation candidates, I'm sure Sunderland will be up there come the end of the season."
Jewell is hopeful that all seven of the players he left out on Tuesday night will be ready to take on Mick McCarthy's Black Cats.
Only strike pair Nathan Ellington and Jason Roberts of that group were left out for fitness purposes, both having picked up knee injuries in the win over Brighton.
But they've been responding to treatment and were expected to return to training this morning.
If passed fit, they'll form the forward line with Lee McCulloch moving back to his accustomed left-wing position after playing up front at Grimsby.
Skipper Matt Jackson and Ian Breckin should resume their partnership at the heart of the defence, meaning Emerson Thome will have to settle for a seat on the bench against Sunderland for who he made 43 Premiership appearances after a £4.5m switch from Chelsea.
Jewell rates Sunderland and boss McCarthy highly. He said: "They're a club with a big tradition, tremendous support and a smashing ground – when it starts getting full there's a tremendous atmosphere.
"They've some good players, with Marcus Stewart and Kevin Kyle up front, international players at the back and an international goalkeeper."
