Ashcroft back in action

The winger hasn't tasted first team action since the middle of November due to suspension and a succession of injuries.
But he returned to training earlier this week and played the full 90 minutes of yesterdays reserve game against Kidderminster.
Providing he suffers no adverse reaction, Ashcroft could be pushing for a place in the Latics squad for Saturday's derby clash with Blackpool.
Ashcroft last pulled on a first team shirt way back on November 20 against Chesterfield at the JJB Stadium.
He then serves a two-match suspension for his sending-off against Canvey Island, but a calf strain prevented an immediate return.
And before Christmas he suffered a shoulder injury in training, sidelining him until this week.
Unfortunately, Ashcroft wasn't able to prevent Latics second string slipping to defeat at the Robin Park Arena.
They took a two goal lead through a Paul Dalglish brace, but Kidderminster hit back to win 3-2.
on the way back
Several members of the first team squad got a run out yesterday, including Simon Haworth, Ian Kilford, Paul Mitchell and Ian Nolan.
They will all be hoping for a place on the bench against Blackpool.
Meanwhile, Matt Jackson is making steady progress as he recovers from a dislocated kneecap.
It is hoped the defender will resume training early in February and then be ready for a reserve game part way through the month.
Manager Paul Jewell was hoping the injury would only keep Jackson out for a fortnight, but it's now almost three weeks since he did it.
Reports in the West Midlands have suggested Jewell tried to sign Wolves Striker Cedric Rousell recently.
The former Coventry player is on the transfer list at Molineux having fallen out of favour with Dave Jones and Latics were said to have made their move after failing to land Chris Greenacre from Mansfield.
But Rousell, 23, was unwilling to move on loan and has decided to stay at Wolves for the time being.
Tickets for the annual dinner of the Wigan Athletic Supporters and Travel Club have gone on sale to non-members.
The dinner, which will take the form of an "evening with former managers" is already proving popular.
A number of the club's managers from down the years have agreed to attend, including Gordon Milne, Alf Craig, Jim Shirley, Ian McNeill, Ray Mathias and Harry McNally.
