Blackwell said: "I take my hat off to Wigan.

"They were better than us and thoroughly deserved to win the game. As much as it hurts me to say it they were a cut above.

"But I said before the game that we were coming here to see how far we had come in the last six months.

"We now know we have a long way to go because Wigan have set a benchmark we now have to attain."

While Wigan boss Paul Jewell told the club's official website:"I think that's probably our best performance of the season so far. We dominated the game from start to finish. We started well and got better. They couldn't deal with our front two, with their the movement, the pace and the power. We got the ball down and created numerous chances. The only thing I thought at half-time was that we hadn't made the most of our opportunities. They came out in the second half and dominated the game."

"The groundsman is great, he's got an impossible job, if you saw the state of the pitch last week after the rugby, how he managed to get it to what it was like today is a testament to him. The pitch doesn't help us but we still played some outstanding stuff. We can't use the pitch as an excuse, it's there so we have to get on with it."

"The last two homes have only produced a point for us so it was a bit of a pressure game for us today. they've had a good run and they came here on a bit of a crest of a wave and I think it shows that when there is a big game on here, and there is a decent atmosphere in the ground our players can respond to it. Hopefully we will be playing in front of those type of crowds more often than we don't."

"The team was outstanding and if we went in four or five nil up at half-time I don't think it would have been unjust."
