Wigan 1 - 0 Boavista

It was a solid performance from the Latics who didn't seem to leave first gear for most of the game. Although the Portuguese season starts later than the Premierleague and it was clear that Boavista were behind the Latics in terms of sharpness.

Damien Francis made his debut for the Latics and had a comfortable but quiet game. He came close to scoring mid-way through the first half, but fired wide from close range.

Next up for the Latics is Chelsea next Sunday.
