Whelan to honour rugby legend

The stadium is set to undergo a revamp over the summer as all JJB logo's are removed from the stadium and replaced by the DW logo.

Part of the revamp will see one stand renamed after a rugby legend.

Whelan said: "We have been debating about the naming of one of the stands after a very famous rugby league player.

"I think we owe it to Wigan rugby club that this tribute should be made to one of our great legends. Football supporters too have to recognise that it is home to the Warriors.

"The revamp of the stadium seemed to be a perfect time to make this happen and we will announce the name at one of the Warriors home games."

Latics fans are likely to vote for the Dean Bell End in a protest move.
