Walk for Naomi and CARE

We kick off the trip on Saturday 9th of July at the Wessex Stadium, home of our local side Weymouth (Conference South).

As avid football fans, we came up with the idea as an alternative to many of the typical fund-raising ideas. The walk is in memory of my sister, Naomi, who died last September. Our chosen charity is CARE, who provide support services for people with learning disabilities at centres across the country. The one based in Lancashire is situated at Stanley Grange. Their website is www.care-ltd.co.uk

We have been establishing links with clubs in order to make arrangements to be met at the grounds and whether they can provide something to be auctioned for the cause. We are also speaking to local press and supporters’ groups to increase publicity.

Ideally we’d like to find people who are willing and able to join us for a day. On Wednesday 27th of July, part of the day will be spent walking from Bolton to Wigan. We aim to arrive at the Reebok Stadium at midday and then head up to the JJB Stadium for 4 pm.

So… If you fancy having a jolly nice stroll, doing something for a good cause and bringing us a welcome change of company, get in touch with us at walk4naomi@hotmail.com

Otherwise, if you just fancy having a peek at the website, it’s www.walk4naomi.co.uk - where you can also make a donation.

We’re just two normal blokes, late twenties, who love footie and the occasional beer, and who have decided to do something constructive in that annoying gap during summer. Neither of us has ever attempted to do anything like this before, and you can guarantee that any help we receive is really, really appreciated.

Apart from that, keep your eyes open for two tired blokes ambling along Stadium Way at the end of July, and all the best for the season ahead,

Nathan & Lee.
