A message posted this morning on the Villarreal official website confirms that the Spanish side have pulled out of negotiations after demanding almost £7 million for the striker.
The Latics were prepared to pay upwards of £4 million for the striker, but Villarreal wanted too much in add ons.
The transfer window closes at 5pm on February 1st.
