Villa target McChulloch

Last updated : 12 June 2006 By Liam Cooper
Newcastle are keen to bolster their midfield after allowing Lee Bowyer to join West Ham United, and reports suggest that The north-east outfit are targetting Barry as Bowyers replacement.

If a bid was successful, Villa hope to replace Barry with Wigan's Scotland international Lee McChulloch.

However reports are suggesting that O'Leary wants Milner, who spent a season on loan at Aston Villa from Newcastle, and McChulloch to provide the ammunition for the Villa strikers.

Obviously the Villa manager has the wrong player if he sees McChulloch as a provider, as the Scots game at Wigan is coming in late at the back post and adding muscle to our midfield.

It's highly doubtful that McChulloch, who bagged five goals last term, could be tempted away from the JJB. Not only is he now the longest serving player at the club, but it is pretty clear that he has a love for the club, unlike certain other French players who's name i won't repeat.
