Valencia has told the club's official website: "I'm enjoying my time in England. I was very happy that my future got sorted out in January and now I can focus on the next few years here at Wigan in the Premier League.

"We are not safe yet, all the players know that, and if we continue to show the fighting spirit we have in recent matches, I am sure we will get the points we need.

"We have surprised a lot of people in the last few months, but nobody at the club has been surprised. We know what we are capable of and results like Arsenal, Manchester City game and the way we battled with ten men against Bolton proved there's a great spirit here."

The Equadorian international who can operate either out wide on the right on in a mroe central position is also looking forward to the game with Blackburn at Ewood Park.

He added: "The home match against Blackburn was a great game, one of the most amazing I've ever played in but we showed we had the guts to come back and stay together as a team.

"Blackburn are a tough team at home, there's no doubt about that, but the way we are playing at the moment we will approach every game confident of getting something and we will go there believing we can win."
