Valencia absence sparks Madrid rumours

Madrid are one of three clubs to be linked with Valencia during the January transfer window, and their manager Juande Ramos has made no secret of his desire to add the Equadorian to his squad at the Bernabeau.

It is rumoured that a deal is close with an initial sixth month loan being agreed, followed by a £20 million transfer in the summer.

Madrid officials are believed to be in Wigan to finalise the deal before the weekend.

The Latics are yet to make comment and insist that Valencia missed last night's game through injury.
