Former Wigan Athletic defender Steve Gohouri has died at the age of 34.

The Ivory Coast international was reported missing on 12th December 2015, after he had attended the Christmas Party of his club TSV Steinbach.

Gohouri was supposed to visit his family in Paris, but never made it to France; his body was found in the River Rhine, West Germany on Saturday 2nd January.

German Police also confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Everyone involved at Wigan Athletic would like to send our condolences to Gohouri's family and friends.

In other news at Latics, Yanic Wildschut's three-month loan deal from Middlesbrough came to an end following his final appearance in yesterday's 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United.

Also, Wigan's home fixture against Sheffield United has been rescheduled for Tuesday 12th January with a 19:45pm kick-off.

The game was originally due to take place on Boxing Day, but was postponed due to heavy rainfall.
