Titus for England says Kirkland

Bramble has been solid for the Latics at the back this season and has gone a long way to banishing the reputation earned during his error prone spell with Newcastle.

The 27 year old defender has played 30 games for the club this season and has made an impression on his goalkeeper.

Kirkland said after Saturday's victory over Sunderland: "Titus is my player of the season by a mile. He has found a place where he is happy and has become a very important player for us.

"I played with him for the Under-21s years ago and you could see then that he was such a talented player. He's taken some terrible stick when he's made mistakes, but everybody makes mistakes.

"For some reason, it was blown up as if he had committed the biggest crime in the world when he slipped up. It's a testament to him and a testament to this club that he's come through it and is playing with a smile on his face.

"I've got to say he is international standard — he's worth a look by England."
