Three years for Jimmy
However, an agreement has been reached, keeping the fans favourite at the JJB until 2008 and the former West Ham midfielder is looking forward to the Premiership campaign.

He said: "It's a huge relief my future is finally sorted and I can look forward to what's going to be a great season.

"I've had by the far the best years of my career at Wigan, having enjoyed two promotions, and there was no way I was going to miss out on the opportunity to prove everyone wrong next season and keep us in the Premiership.

"I have a great relationship with the manager (Paul Jewell) and with the supporters, so this was the only place I was interested in signing for. My aim for this campaign is to try and play in every game.

"I was an ever-present last year when we got promoted, so I'd like to do the same again. Of course that means I'm going to have to fight hard to get in the team, because the squad here keeps improving year on year."

Supporters are just waiting for striker Nathan Ellington to agree his deal now.
