The latest on Andy Delort, Nadir Ciftci and Gaeten Bong

Wigan Athletic officially confirmed yesterday that French striker Andy Delort would permanently return to his native country.

The 23-year old has signed for Ligue 1 side Caen after an undisclosed fee was accepted by the Latics.

Wigan have also installed a sell on clause in his new contract, meaning they will receive part of the transfer fee if he again moves on.

Delort only made 11 appearances during his time at the DW Stadium, failing to score. After poor form he was shipped out on loan to French Ligue 2 club FC Tours, where Wigan originally signed him from.

A deal for the Frenchman's potential replacement Nadir Ciftci is looking under threat, after the Dundee United striker turned down two contract offers from Wigan.

It is thought he wants a move to Scottish giants Celtic, due to the pull of Champions League football.

However, Dundee United are reluctant to sell Ciftci to Celtic, after they lost both Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong to the Scottish Champions last season.

The Turk is out of contract at Tannadice at the end of the next campaign.

Meanwhile, ex-Wigan Athletic left-back Gaeten Bong has signed for Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion.

Bong was a free agent after his contract at Latics recently expired.
