Teale Raring to go

Teale played through the pain barrier for the majority of last season due to a small piece of bone between the tendon and ankle joint. The bone has now been removed and the flying Scotsman is now eager to start afresh with a clean bill of health.

Teale: Can't wait for the new season
The right winger still managed to play 25 times in the Premiership last season, impressing enough near the end of the season to earn international recognition, winning his first full international cap against Japan.

He is now building up his fitness at Wigan's Christopher ground training ground with the Wigan Athletic medical team on a daily basis.

Speaking to the official website, Teale said: "It was a wee bit of wear and tear really, a case of getting through theseason, but it was getting sore towards the end when i was with the Scotland squad in Japan. The operation was just a clean-out, nothing too serious, but the surgeon who did it said he was glad to have caught it when he did."

"The way the injury was going, it would have only have got worse and done more damage. I was in a plaster cast after the operation for a little while and now I've got a lighter, removable cast on for two weeks."

Tealey took time out to reflect on his past season: "It's been a good season, despite the injury. The main thing was for the team to stay up, but to do so well in the Carling Cup, play as many games as i did and get the Scotland call-up was fantastic for me."
