The move for Lawrence could become perminant if the 33 year old can prove his fitness. Jewell said: "I know Jamie really well and I've tried to get him here before, but understandably he didn't want to drop down to Division Two," Jewell told the club's website.

"Things are different now though and he's keen to come. He's a really powerful player who I have a lot of time for and he can play in any number of positions and do a good job.

"He's a decent lad and has a great engine - I know him well from having him at Bradford."

Let's hope he tries a new hair colour for this Saturday's game. blue would be nice Jamie...

The move also sees Tony Dinning heading for the Bescot Stadium. Dinning has been linked with massive debts and a gambling problem in some areas of the media, though nothing has come out publicy.

Jewell is not one to tolerate trouble makers and it is thought that he and Dinning have not been seeing eye to eye.

At least Jason Jarrett can go on a cement his place in the lien-up alnogside Bullard.

It is also rife that PJ is looking to add to his strike force by signing 27 year old Darren Huckerby from Manchester City, currently on loan at Norwich City

Comments have been attributed to the club saying we're not interested in Huckerby, but those comments are not what has been said by anyone here.

"We are interested in the player as we are any good players of his type, but there are a lot of other clubs interested too."

"Norwich are in the box seat because he's there at the moment and that's fair enough.

"He's a good player and someone we rate but as I said, there are a few clubs interested in him so we'll have to wait and see how things pan out."

Meanwhile the Latics have been linked with moves for Luton Town's Matthew Spring and even Swindon Town's Andy Guerney, formerly of Reading.
