Swansea reject initial Bodde bid

The 25 year old Dutch midfielder has been the subject of much muted interest from various Premierleague clubs over the summer, including Bolton Wanderers.

Swansea are not keen on selling as Bodde's former club, ADO Den Haag, have a 50% sell on clause in his contract.

As with the transfers of Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez and even the appointment of Roberto Martinez as manager, Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is adament he won't be selling.

He said: "Not only have we rejected the bid, but it's an offer we wouldn't even think twice about considering.

"Ferrie and his agent are well aware of Wigan's interest. In fact, we have been speaking about a new deal for a number of weeks.

"The talks have been extremely positive and once Ferrie is fit and playing again then we'll be trying to tie him down to Swansea for the next few years."

Bodde suffered a bad knee injury in November of last season and has not played competitively since.

Derby County launched increased bids for the player last summer, totalling £2 million, but Jenkins has always insisted that he wants upwards of £3 million.
