Stand united and watch us grow says Martinez

Over the years, the Wigan squad seem to have had a unity about it with Paul Jewell one of the men responsible for building such a great team spirit. This ethic seems to have continued after Jewell left with Chris Hutchings and Steve Bruce both inheriting a squad who are together, despite the team being virtually unrecognisable from the one Jewell put together. Now, Roberto Martinezwants this to continue as he see's it as a foothold towards a great season.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Martinez said

"I think that passion around the club will be a great advantage for us."

"We all know how tough the job is going to be, especially over the next five or six months, as when a manager leaves a club there is always change and a good turnover in players.

"The next few months are going to be critical, but we need to rely on hard work and everyone pushing in the same direction, including the fans.

"If we can pull together as a club, we will all enjoy our football and move forward. That is what we have to do."

Antonio Valencia is expected to join Manchester United in the next two weeks and Paul Scharner is being strongly linked with Fulham and Hamburg. Jason Scotland could arrive at the DW to bolster the frontline with Martinez knowing all about Scotland back at Swansea.
