DeZeeuw: Ready to begin pre-season training
The Dutchman limped out of the away game at Newcastle back on April 15th when a collision with Stephen Carr ended his season prematurely. Wigan went on to concede nine goals in the final four games of the season in his absence.

But the 36-year-old has declared himself fit and has said 'I'll be ready for pre-season.'

Speaking to the official website, DeZeeuw said: "It's all knitted together well and it feels good," adding: "I was wearing an orange bib in training, which means no contact, but it was great to join in again, kicking a ball with the lads."

Arguably Paul Jewells best signing of last summer, 'Arry, who hopes to become a doctor after his playing career, has taken up the option of a second year with the Latics, and says he can't wait for the new season to kick off in August.

"I can honestly say that i'm enjoying my football as much as at anytime in my career. Although i played in my first ever cup final, i don't think, from a purely personal point of view, last season was my best, because i had one or two niggling injuries. But from the team's point of view, to see how well we did was fantastic and I am convinced we can build on that."
