Six youngsters have signed their first professional contracts at Wigan Athletic after coming through the youth system.

Louis Robles, Sam Cosgrove, Liam Langford, Adam Anson, Owen Evans and Adrian Purzycki are the six to have put pen-to-paper on the deals.

The youngsters, dubbed the 'Future of Wigan Athletic', will now make the step up from the Under-18's team to the Development Squad.

This news comes after the new Chairman David Sharpe admitted he is a keen believer in developing youth players and integrating them into the first team.

Peter Atherton and his Under-18's squad can still win the Football League Youth Alliance North-West Division title.

They are also in the final of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup and the northern final of the Football League Youth Alliance Cup.

Both Robles and Cosgrove have already made cameo appearances on the first team bench this campaign.
