Sinclair delighted with first Latics goal

His headed goal was only a consolation as the Latics went down 2-1 against a poor Hull City side, but Sinclair is hoping he is given further first team opportunities by Roberto Martinez.

He told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to get my first goal in the Premier League, and hopefully it can kick-start me to get a few more. But I'm also disappointed that it wasn't enough to get us a point.

"It's frustrating for any player to be sitting on the bench, waiting to get on, but you can only keep working hard in training and giving it 100% and be ready to take your chance when it comes.

"I feel I can offer a little bit of pace to the team, and hopefully that's why the gaffer brought me to the club. It's all about being patient, and hopefully my time will come. I've scored my first goal and hopefully I can kick on from here.

"The gaffer has been putting me in for 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there, and he's building up to hopefully putting me in. At the end of the day, it's up to the gaffer and all I can do is keep going."

Given the poor performances so far this season of Jason Koumas, Sinclair is likely to be the direct beneficiary of any problems with Hugo Rodallega and Charles N'Zogbia on either flank.
