Sib wants to start

The 33 year old Frenchman was signed a free transfer from Newcastle during the summer and has suffered a great deal with injuries during his short time with the club.

However despite his lack of time on the pitch, Sibierski has managed to score four goals, including his spectacular volley last weekend against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

He told the Wigan Evening Post: "I'm looking for a start every week. As a footballer that is what you want. I'm disappointed, but as soon as I come on I will give my best for 10, 15 or 20 minutes.

"Benty is a very good striker and Emile Heskey has done very well. Marlon King has just come in as well and it's a good thing for the club. I feel happy here. I've got no worries. I'll keep working because I know what I can bring to this club. We haven't got time to just think about ourselves. We have to think about the team."

The Latics now have five front players in the squad with Marcus Bent, Emile Heskey, Julius Aghahowa and new signing Marlon King all fighting with Sibierski for a place up front.

Of the five it is arguable that the Frenchman has the best natural finishing ability and is worthy of a starting place.
