Senior quartet offer Hutch support

Antoine Sibierski, Kevin Kilbane, Titus Bramble and Marcus Bent have all spoken out with words of support for Hutchings who will take charge of his twelth Wigan Athletic game this weekend.

Frenchman Sibierski, 33, said: "The players are definately behind the manager. It is not him who is out there on the pitch. It is up to the players.

"If we aren't concentrating it's not the manager's fault because he is on the touchline. As players we have to show a reaction for him. We showed at Birmingham that we all want to play for him."

Whilst Irish international Kevin Kilbane, who has been playing at left back for the club this season, added: "We've got to stick together for the manager. Ultimately we've got to take responsibility for the results.

"The manager comes in and sets us up to do a job. We've worked on set plays and team shape, but then we've been lacklustre in our own box. We've got to get back to being solid and together. We've got to stick together and rally round the manager and the staff."

Titus Bramble meanwhile was signed by Hutchings on a free transfer from Newcastle in the summer and has gone on to impress in a Wigan shirt. He said: "We've never doubted the manager. Okay, we've not got the results recently, but we're all 100 per cent behind the gaffer.

"I don't think it's even a question for us about him. I've been really impressed with him since I came to the football club. He wants us to play football and it's up to the players to put this right.

"As a team and the whole club has got to dig deep now. We've got to get back to the basics we were doing at the start of the season and I'm sure we'll get points very soon."

And finally, Bent, who bagged two goals in last weekend's defeat to Birmingham added: "Everyone is part of this. If one member of the club is not doing their job then the ship will sink.

"We're all pulling together for the manager and fans to put it right. I suppose we're putting the manager under pressure with our results, but we're trying to turn the corner."

Just this week chairman Dave Whelan gave his vote of confidence to Hutchings and with such kind words from the players a good performance is hoped for this weekend.

However after Chelsea rolled Manchester City over 6-0 last weekend, and given the Latics present record against the big four, a result is more than likely too much to hope for.
