Scharner to be dropped for outburst

Bruce responded today to the comments from Scharner who claimed the new boss to be a long ball merchant after Saturday's game.

However, former United skipper Bruce refused to take the comments lying down and responded by saying, "Despite what was said by a certain individual, there is no way I'm a long-ball merchant.

"It can become a bit negative when something like that develops and I was disappointed. Certainly I'll have a team that is highly competitive but never a long-ball side."

If the manager is as unhappy with the comments as suggested then Scharner will be replaced with Michael Brown in the middle of the park, and this is despite scoring hte equalising goal on Saturday.
