Scharner Hints At Contract Extension

The 28-year-old Austrian defender, who still has just over one year left on his existing deal, has had a meeting with manager Steve Bruce about his future but will wait until the summer for contract extension talks to get underway.

"Steve Bruce and myself have had a meeting and he told me he wants to talk in the summer with a view to extending my contract," Scharner told the Wigan Evening Post.

"That's fine by me and I said let's finish the season first and concentrate on keeping the club in the Premier League."
