Rovers chairman hints at Koumas interest

Rovers has been linked with a move for Koumas throughout the January window and now, on deadline day, Williams is prepared to admit that they will have to wait until the summer before trying again.

Williams said: "There's a long-term midfield target we are still pursuing. We tried to get him out in January but his club were unwilling to sell, so we'll have to wait until the summer on that one now.

"We were also working on a striker but that won't be happening now either for similar reasons. So I don't expect to do any deals before the deadline, unless an opportunity suddenly presents itself that's too good to miss."

Koumas has had limited chances under Steve Bruce and has been mainly used as a substitute. He came on as a 53rd minute replacement for Marlon King in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.
